KAMPALA, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Uganda has advanced to the third round of the 2026 FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup qualifiers after defeating Namibia 2-0 in the return leg here on Monday and prevailing 5-0 on aggregate.
Peace Muduwa and Agnes Nabukenya scored for Uganda in the first half. The visitors pressed forward after the break, but failed to break Uganda's defense.
Uganda's head coach Sheryl Ulanda told Xinhua that she is impressed with the attitude of the players who managed to win two matches and concede no goal.
"The team has worked so hard and has been very disciplined on the pitch. We continue to work hard because we have the third round next," added Ulanda.
Namibia's goalkeeper Slyvia Ndiweteko said that they were unfortunate because they missed some scoring chances. "We played against a good Ugandan team," she added.
Uganda will now wait to face the winner between Burundi and Zambia in the third round. Zambia notched a 2-1 road win in the first leg.
The FIFA U20 Women's World Cup will be held in Poland from September 5-27, 2026.
