LUSAKA, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Foreign investors have been urged to invest in a sugar plantation in the rich vast plains of Manyinga District in North-Western Province, Zambia, to accelerate economic growth in the rural region of the southern African country.
Manyinga Town Council Chairperson Henry Sakuwaha said international investors should consider partnering with Zambians by investing in Manyinga plains through the establishment of a sugar plantation.
In a recent interview with Xinhua, Sakuwaha said the council is ready to work with would-be investors to provide an enabling environment for their investments.
He said the council is trying to exploit various investments through its district-integrated development plan.
"The establishment of a sugar plantation will also result in the creation of a power plant through the production of ethanol," Sakuwaha said. "We are ready to work with foreign investors to bring about development."
He said the local people are ready to partner with foreigners in other sectors of agriculture, an economic mainstay of Manyinga District.
