LUSAKA, Sept 22 (Xinhua) -- China and Zambia announced on Wednesday that the two sides will hold the first-ever trade and investment forum aimed at tapping the trade and investment potential between the two countries.
The Trade and Investment Forum will be held in Lusaka, the Zambian capital, from Sept. 28-29, under the theme "China-Zambia investment in the new era, all-weather, all-diversion, and quality friendship."
The forum will be co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Zambia and the Zambian Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry.
Chinese ambassador to Zambia said the forum will be large in scale and broad in coverage.
According to the Chinese ambassador, different significant agreements will be signed on the sidelines of the forum, including an agreement on duty-free treatment for Zambian products corresponding to 98 percent of tariff lines.
Elias Mubanga, Zambia's acting Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry, said the first-ever forum signifies a milestone in Zambia's economic relationship with China.
He also noted the establishment of the first economic zone in Zambia by China, saying it was the first in Africa as an affirmation of the importance that China attaches to its relationship with Zambia.
