SYDNEY, NSW, Australia - Stocks in Asia mirrored Wall Street's overnight performance, finishing mixed and barely moved.

The Australian All Ordinaries finished just 0.90 of a single point or 0.01 percent in front, at 7,779.60.

The Nikkei 225 in Japan firmed 144.04 points or 0.52 percent to 27,728.12.

The Shanghai Composite in China fell 10.67 points or 0.31 percent to 3,466.55.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng shed 201.08 points or 0.76 percent to 26,225.47.

The U.S. dollar remained in a virtual coma. The euro was slightly weaker at 1.1847. The British pound was little changed at 1.3923. The Japanese yen slipped a touch to 109.57. The Swiss franc drifted down to 0.9055.

The Canadian dollar was unmoved at 1.2521. The Australian dollar traded in a tight range at 0.7404. The New Zealand dollar steadied at 0.7066.

Overnight on Wall Street, the Standard and Poor's 500 hit a new intraday high but closed off 20.49 points or 0.46 percent at 4,402.66.

The Nasdaq Composite edged up 19.24 points or 0.13 percent to 14,780.53.

The Dow Jones industrials performed worst of all, shedding 323.73 points or 0.92 percent to 34,792.67.
