Syracuse senior center Bourama Sidibe is scheduled to undergo knee surgery on Tuesday after being injured in the Orange's season-opening win over Bryant on Friday.
Sidibe suffered a meniscus tear in his left knee during the contest. A school doctor said he will be sidelined for about four weeks.
The 6-foot-10 Sidibe had two points and one rebound in four minutes before leaving the contest with the injury. Syracuse won the game 85-84.
Sidibe, who is from the African country of Mali, averaged 6.0 points and 7.6 rebounds while starting all 32 games last season. He shot 69.2 percent from the field and led the Orange with 44 blocked shots.
Syracuse (1-0) faces Niagara on Thursday.
