US gets gold dispensing ATM

An ATM that dispenses shiny 24-carat gold bars has been installed in the US state of Florida.

The machine has been installed by Geissler, a German company, at an upscale mall in Boca Raton, where many of Florida's wealthy retirees live.

Dispensing gold bars and coins, the machine is intended as a convenience for investors looking to bypass pawn shop and Internet gold sellers and to hedge against inflation.

The first ever gold machine to be installed by Geissler was at Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace hotel in May.

There are also gold ATMs in Germany, Spain and Italy.
